Accounting Specialist- Accounts Payable Southwest Human Development is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our Finance department.
This position will be responsible for performing diverse accounts payable duties assuring the agency vendors are paid accurately and on a timely basis, creates vendor tracking reports as requested, audits employee mileage reports, works within the allowed monthly budget, and maintains accurate and complete vendor files.
In this role you will:
Ensure accounts payable invoices and expense claims are accurate, properly coded, and paid in a timely manner.
Obtain W9s for new vendors in preparation of 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC reporting.
Review and process mileage and business meals reimbursements.
Identify and record pre-paid and accrued expenses.
Research, analyze, and resolve payment vendor issues.
Review and process agency credit cards and prepare monthly credit card report.
Create and monitor open purchase orders and vendor logs.
Analyzes assignments or projects to determine the most effective way of accomplishing them.
Advises Manager of outstanding payables.
Reviews and organizes interdepartmental supply orders.
Reconciles billing accounts from vendors to agree with open accounts payable status.
Research and resolves internal and external inquiries regarding account status.
Train and setup new CompanyMileage users (CompanyMileage software, system use for mileage and meals reimbursement).
Print checks, secures signatures, and prepare for mailing.
What it takes:
High school diploma or GED Completion of college equivalent courses in basic Accounting.
Minimum two years experience in accounting principles, policies, and procedures.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Windows Office Suite is required.
Effective interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
Possess an insured & reliable vehicle and a valid AZ driver's license.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
